Our Story
We are deeply aware of the world around us and appreciate that good things take time. Our materials and tools remind us of the transformative power of time and its ability to reveal hidden beauty. We’re conscious. Of the past, and of tomorrow, and that makes the present even more meaningful.
It’s the right way, even if it means the slow way.
Nature has been done a disservice by humankind. Mountains of waste, a dumping ground for precious materials and worn-out pieces. But in nature, nothing is wasted. Inspired by nature's cycles, our jewellery breathes new life into metal and stone, whilst respecting the life it had before. This means putting purpose over profits, and intricate, thoughtful design over cheap shortcuts.
Though we’ve still got a long way to go to achieve our goal of being fully sustainable, we’re 100% transparent with our processes, and the way we do business.
Each piece is handcrafted and cast in small batches with recycled silver or gold in London. Not only does this avoid over-production, it also enables us to create as little environmental impact as possible. Whatever we don’t use, we recycle – from the metal for our jewellery to the seeded paper for our packaging.
Creating pieces that spark change and inspire people to care.
All pieces are designed by our founder and then handmade in small batches by herself in London to avoid the unnecessary waste caused by mass production.
Since the beginning of our journey, supporting movements that fight for gender equality and help women across communities in Mexico get a better quality of life make our passion worth it. Because of this, we donate 10% of our revenue from Black Friday to Christmas season to support good causes instead of discounts that just fuel consumption.
Our chosen NGO is Fondo Semillas. A feminist fund in Mexico that provides economic resources, institutional strengthening, and training to groups of low-income women leaders to advance gender equality and social justice. Fondo Semillas has been impacting the lives of many girls, women, trans, and intersex people for 32 years.

Established in 2019 by Mexican designer Montserrat A. Alonso.
Montserrat developed a love for design at an early age. She enjoyed a childhood rich with freedom and imagination – constantly surrounded by female makers crafting interesting things. This colourful childhood opened her eyes to creativity, storytelling, and her passion for crafting beautiful things by hand, made to be loved.
After gaining a fashion and textile design degree, she worked in the fashion industry for five years and saw firsthand the ugly side of it. She started Maalo to help set a new standard, by inspiring more people to consume and cherish quality handmade jewellery. Today, her designs balance a contemporary aesthetic inspired by the natural world, women, and Mexican culture.
